Florida tackles storm problem

PROPOSALS to issue refunds to the thousands of policyholders forced to pay multiple deductibles in this year’s hurricane season were high on the agenda at a special legislative session that began in Florida yesterday. The session aims to settle a number of contentious insurance issues arising from this year’s storms, and arrives just days after state-created high-risk insurer Citizens Property Insurance submitted a report to the state’s insurance regulator outlining its target of settling all hurricane claims by year-end.
