Insurance Day
Florida tackles storm problem
By Scott Vincent
PROPOSALS to issue refunds to the thousands of policyholders forced to pay multiple deductibles in this year’s hurricane season
were high on the agenda at a special legislative session that began in Florida yesterday. The session aims to settle a number
of contentious insurance issues arising from this year’s storms, and arrives just days after state-created high-risk insurer
Citizens Property Insurance submitted a report to the state’s insurance regulator outlining its target of settling all hurricane
claims by year-end.
