Contract - Whether charterparty concluded orally

The shipowners claimed to have concluded a charterparty with the charterers on the Asbatankvoy form. The charterers denied that they had entered into any charterparty with the owners. The owners’ case was that the charterparty had been concluded orally in the course of a telephone conversation between a Mr F of an intermediary company (V Ltd) acting on behalf of the owners and a Mr P of an intermediary company (I Ltd) acting on behalf of the charterers.
