Electricity is not a commodity in the traditional sense of the word. Although ubiquitous in our everyday lives, and uninterrupted access to it is a measure of prosperity and economic development, electricity cannot be stored, in commercially large enough quantities, and is traded cross-border only among a relatively small number of countries.
