TAIWAN LIFE GAINS APPROVAL FOR CHINESE JOINT VENTURE

Taiwan Life Insurance Co has gained the approval of the Chinese authorities to launch a joint venture in China. Taiwan-based Cathay Financial and Shin Kong Financial have already established joint ventures on the mainland. Both Cathay and Shin Kong tied up with Chinese airlines for their joint ventures. Reuters reported last year that Taiwan Life was in talks to buy half of an existing Chinese assurance joint venture.
