LOSSES LESS THAN $200M FROM TYPHOON KROSA, SAYS AIR
Insured losses in Taiwan as a result of typhoon Krosa, which struck the island at the weekend, are likely to be less than
$200m, according to initial estimates from Massachusetts-based risk modeller AIR Worldwide. The modeller said that it did
not expect significant structural damage to reinforced concrete construction, although there was likely to be widespread wind-related
damage to “nonstructural elements”. AIR noted that the track of Krosa meant that the strongest winds were kept well away from
the capital of Taipei.
