NORWICH UNION DENIES GOING BACK ON INDIA OUTSOURCING STRATEGY
UK insurer Norwich Union has denied that it is considering a reversal of its outsourcing strategy after it was reported that
a number of jobs had been moved back to the UK after being outsourced to a pilot scheme in India involving call centre staff.
According to the Liverpool Echo, 150 jobs in household claims, motor credit hire and a pensions division are being reassigned
back in the UK. But Norwich Union insists that despite initial problems over some cultural and language issues, the plan to
transfer 7,800 call centre jobs from the UK to India by the end of the year will remain unaffected. The return of 150 jobs
comes just a week after the insurer’s Liverpool branch closed its doors after outsourcing the 240 roles to India.
