US TRADE ASSOCIATION APPEALS OVER PRIVATISATION OF JAPAN’S POSTAL SERVICE
The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, a US trade association, has argued that post offices be allowed to sell products
of both Japanese and foreign life insurance firms as well as postal life insurance products following the privatisation of
the country’s postal services, slated for October 2007. The appeal came from ACCJ chairman Charles Lake who was acting on
behalf of foreign insurers in addressing the Postal Services Privatisation Committee, a government advisory panel that had
requested the opinions of various life insurance industry groups prior to next year’s deadline.
