CO-ORDINATING FINANCIAL COMMISSION LIKELY IN CHINA
China is likely to form a new commission that will co-ordinate the supervision of the financial services sector, reports
China Securities Journal
, part of the
Xinhua
news network. The move was being considered because the various segments of the financial services sector were becoming increasingly
intertwined, the report said. A national finance working conference, to be held before the end of the year, will look at the
possibility of inter-ministry co-operation. The three existing regulators — CIRC, CSRC and CBRC — have recently found themselves
in a few situations where one regulator has felt differently from another, particularly when insurers have been investing
in banks or vice-versa.
