HONG KONG MEDICAL ASSOCIATION HITS OUT AT INSURER CONDITIONS
The Hong Kong Medical Association (HKMA) has hit out at insurers for imposing conditions on doctors that the association said
could put patients’ lives at risk. HKMA chairman Choi Kin said that one “major insurance company” had imposed unreasonable
conditions on doctors if they wished to be listed in the company’s medical schemes. He said that the clauses included a restriction
on the number of repeat visits a patient could make. A report from the Medical Council had said that these clauses could lower
health care standards to “a dangerous level”.
