NIPPONKOA OFFERS DISCOUNT TO SMOKE-DETECTOR USERS

Japan-based insurer Nipponkoa is to offer buyers of its homeowner insurance a 2% discount if they fit smoke detectors to their homes, reports Yomiuri Shimbun . Nipponkoa said that it was the first discount of its kind to be offered by a Japanese insurer. From this June all new or renovated homes in Japan will by law have to have smoke detectors installed.
