CHINA’S INSURERS PLAN INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS
China’s four largest insurers are piloting their first investments in the country’s infrastructure, reports
China Securities Journal
. Earlier this month the China Insurance Regulatory Commission gave insurers permission to invest some of their holdings in
the development of China’s infrastructure. The four insurers have some 12bn yuan to invest, with the 2010 Shanghai World Expo,
roads, the Shanghai underground system and airport construction. The CIRC is requiring that the four insurers invest in projects
jointly in order to reduce the risk to an individual insurer.
