CHINA INSURANCE PREMIUMS UP 12.8% JANUARY TO MAY

Total insurance premiums in China between January and May rose 12.8% for the five months January to May compared with the same period last year, reaching 247.66bn yuan, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) reported yesterday. Property premiums rose 9.5% year on year to 60.53bn yuan, while life business rose 13.1% to reach 165.66bn yuan. Health insurance premiums were up 22.2% to 15.1bn yuan, while accident insurance premiums rose by 18.4% to 6.36bn yuan.
