Anti-money laundering compliance issues in the banking industry

The US Patriot Act of 2001 substantially extends financial institutions’ pre-existing due-diligence and anti-money laundering (AML) program responsibilities, to include the detection, choking-off (to the furthest extent possible), and reporting of terrorists’ financing schemes.
