Chinese regulator publishes new rules on derivatives business in the PRC

The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) recently issued its long-awaited Interim Rules on the Administration of Derivatives Business of Financial Institutions (the “Interim Rules”). The rules, which became effective on 1 March 2004, are an important step in developing the derivatives market in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
