Bolstering the Capital Markets

Malaysia has recently announced plans to boost her lack luster capital market with a series of new regulations and guidelines.
It is the view of the Government that the capital market has an important role to play in economic development and is a perfect
conduit for the raising and investment of capital. With a resilient, competitive and efficient capital market, local as well
as foreign investment will be encouraged, resulting in Malaysia being able to re-position herself as a major financial hub.
The changes will come through a co-ordination of the various arms of the financial sector and are coined as the “Ten Measures
to Enhance the Malaysian Markets”. These measures are discussed below.
