EC encourages industry to speak up

The financial services industry needs to do more to get itself involved in every stage of the legislative process to improve the policies that originate from Europe, according to Charlie McCreevy, internal market commissioner. Speaking at the British Bankers’ Association’s annual supervision conference in London last month, Mr McCreevy said the European Commission needs the industry to be involved in the process of legislation and policy-making from the beginning and that industry participation is a key part of its Better Regulation project.
