Breach of Manual Handling Operations Regulations

The claimant was part of a four-man team, and was injured whilst helping to move four heavy machines weighing between 2800kg and 3100kg manually on skates. He was one of two men pushing the machine whilst the other two members of the team acted as steersman and lookout respectively. He claimed that in the course of this operation he had injured his back and that the operation was outside the usual duties performed by him.
