£8mn for girl born with cerebral palsy

A girl who was left with severe cerebral palsy after mistakes during her birth has been awarded more than £8mn in compensation. The girl, now 16, cannot walk unaided and her speech has been badly affected, although her intelligence and intellectual development have not been affected. The hospital admitted liability. The girl and her family now live in the Irish Republic. She was awarded €11.6mn.
