£3,750 for supermarket grape slip

A man has been awarded £3,750 compensation in an out of court settlement as a result of a slip accident at a supermarket store. As he walked down one of the aisles, he slipped on a loose grape that had been left on the floor. He suffered a fracture of the base of the right little finger and was taken to hospital. The man’s lawyer alleged that “the supermarket had failed to enforce any adequate system for the inspection of the floor whereby the grape may have been detected and removed prior to our client’s accident.” The supermarket admitted liability and compensation was settled.
