Damages for asbestosis

A fitter and turbine engineer who was exposed to asbestos by several employers has won over £30,000 damages after developing asbestosis. Asbestos was extensively used as an insulating material on pipes and machinery in the workspace and laggers would frequently disturb the asbestos distributing dust into his working environment. The claim was settled before court proceedings were issued with damages split between each of his former employers according to the time that he spent working for them.
