$4.5mn compensation award in Vioxx case

The fourth Vioxx case to be heard in the US has resulted in a split decision. The jury concluded that Vioxx was the cause of plaintiff’s heart attack and ordered the company to pay $4.5mn in compensation. The jury awarded $9mn in punitive damages.
