£1.5mn for brain damaged child

A health authority has paid £1.5mn in agreed damages to a girl born with severe brain damage. The girl was born with severe cerebral palsy and also has epilepsy, and will now require 24-hour care for the rest of his life. The health authority had denied liability. The case involved arguments over whether the brain damage had occurred before or after her mother had been admitted to hospital to give birth.
