Pentagon wants environmental protection
The Pentagon is seeking protection from US environmental legislation, and the Bush administration is believed to be proposing legislation to this effect, covering the Pentagon and some defence companies. In particular, there is concern over liability for water pollution caused by the chemical perchlorate, found in rocket fuel. The US Environmental Protection Agency believes that the chemical is a health risk in drinking water above certain levels, but the Pentagon believes that it is only dangerous at much higher levels of concentration.
