The claimant, BCGE, was a bank based in Switzerland. Its business included providing trade financing to purchasers of cargo, including GPG. The defendant, JICL, owned the vessel Jeil Crystal. JICL used a Singaporean company, DM, which was part of the same group, to oversee the operation of its vessels.
