Whistleblower wins US$78mn

In a business misconduct case settled by TAP Pharmaceuticals for US$875mn, a qui tam suit on behalf of Douglas Durand, who originally drew attention to the misconduct, has led to agreement for him to receive 14% of the settlement. The misconduct involved payment of kickbacks to doctors, and coaching them to cheat Medicare in the promotion of a prostate cancer drug.
