EU draft consumer protection rules on defective products


The European parliament has revealed EU-wide consumer protection rules for those sold a defective product. The same rules will apply whether a product is bought online or in a local store, and faulty goods have to be repaired or replaced or the consumer gets their money back. In addition, member states can keep longer guarantee periods (over two years).
