The ‘New’ Electronic Communications Code

The Digital Economy Act (the Act) was enacted in April 2017 and, amongst other things, introduced a new Electronic Communications Code. The new code, which is set out in Sch 1 of the Act, came into effect on 28 December 2017 and replaces the ‘old’ code, often known as the Telecommunications Code, which was introduced by the Telecommunications 1984 and amended by the Communications Act in 2003.
