Justice committee inquiry into government’s small claims limit plans
Organisations from all sides have responded to the Justice Committee inquiry into government plans to raise the small claims
limit for personal injury. In written submissions to the inquiry, the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) reiterated its support
for the proposed extension of the small claims track with appropriate safeguards, while Irwin Mitchell said the proposed reforms
appear to be offering little benefit to the insured motorist, and Thompsons said there is no evidence justifying any increase
to the small claims limit.
