Policies taken out by bailees

In Ramco (UK) Ltd v International Insurance Co of Hannover Ltd [2004] EWCA Civ 675 the Court of Appeal has upheld the decision of Andrew Smith J at first instance ([2003] EWHC 2360 (Comm) and discussed in the May 2004 issue of Insurance Law Monthly). The case discusses the amount that may be recovered by a warehouseman, carrier or other bailee under a policy taken out by him with respect to the goods in his custody.
