Statistics tell us there are almost seven million carers in the UK – one person in every 10 in the country*. And these are just the ones we know about; for every patient who leaves hospital after an accident or unexpected illness there is a team of carers involved, from the person’s relatives to social care workers, GPs, hospitals and the associated health professionals. How to keep all these people in communication with each other, in a way that is easily accessible for the person involved, while at the same time ensuring all the costs are covered, can be a constant, all-consuming juggling act for those responsible.
