Bank of Ireland will keep insurance unit

The EU has bowed to serious lobbying from the Bank of Ireland (BoI) and has decided to let it keep its insurance operation New Ireland Assurance (NIA), the sale of which had originally been part of the condition for BoI being allowed to receive a €3.8bn ($4.9bn) bailout from the Irish state in 2010.
