Manila amendments to STCW

Rebecca Taylor discusses the impact that the the 2010 Manila Amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978 will have on aspects of maritime training and the shipping industry.

Just over a decade has passed since the last comprehensive revision of the STCW was implemented. In that time, technological advancement has revolutionised the way in which vessel operations are conducted as well as bridge management and bridge management systems.
