Bar Council to explore viability of Contingency Legal Aid Fund
The Bar Council has established a working group to explore the viability of a Contingency Legal Aid Fund (CLAF) in the wake
of the government’s response to its consultation on civil litigation costs. Alongside the formation of the new group, to be
chaired by former chairman of the bar, Guy Mansfield QC, Europe Economics has been commissioned to provide a feasibility study
of a CLAF. The group is expected to report its interim findings in the summer.
