UN responses to piracy

On 26 July 2010 the UN Secretary General (UNSG), following the Security Council’s request under S/Res/1918 (2010), submitted its report (S/2010/394) on possible options to further the aim of prosecuting and imprisoning persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea off the coast of Somalia. Seven options in total were offered.
