Makers of ‘World of Warcraft’ lose Chinese copyright case
CHINA – Software companies Blizzard Entertainment, The9 and two other parties will have to pay RMB1.45m to a Chinese company for copyright infringement. Founder Technology Group sued Blizzard Entertainment and The9 in 2007 for using five of its Chinese character fonts in the Chinese version of the computer game World of Warcraft . Founder had originally asked for RMB408m, but this was rejected by the court.
