£78,000 in compensation for crash deaths

A man who lost his wife and daughter when an intoxicated driver crashed into their car has been awarded £78,000 in compensation. His wife, daughter, wife’s sister and his niece were all killed in the head-on collision, as was the young driver of the other car, who was under the influence of both drink and drugs. A compensation claim was made under the Fatal Accidents Act as the man was dependant on his wife, having taken early retirement. The intoxicated driver’s insurance company settled the claim out of court for a total of £78,000.
