US$2.5mn in damages over Seroxat in US
The parents of a young child have been awarded US$2.5mn in damages after a jury in Philadelphia decided that the antidepressant Seroxat was responsible for their three-year-old son’s heart defects. Seroxat, known as Paxil in the US, is an antidepressant manufactured by the British pharmaceutical company, GlaxoSmithKline, which said it would appeal against the verdict.
