Marta Andreasen MEP rebuffed by colleagues

Former European Commission chief accountant and whistleblower par excellence Marta Andreasen has been elected to the European Parliament as an MEP for the Euro-sceptic UK Independence Party. She has also won a position on the parliament’s influential budgetary control committee. However, Andreasen has also faced a rebuff - being voted down by the parliament’s socialist and pro-federalist European People’s Party group when standing for election as committee vice-chair. Andreasen told journalists later “this is a measure of how much [other MEPs] fear me.”
