Ceiops includes confidentiality safeguards in equivalence assessments

The Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (Ceiops) has developed a new methodology for Europe’s supervisors to assess whether regulators outside the EU operate with equivalent confidentiality safeguards when disclosing information about the supervision of insurance and reinsurance firms. Ceiops said the ability to exchange information with a third country supervisor under professional secrecy standards should contribute to the assessment of equivalence of third country supervisors by Ceiops’ members.
