EU insurers make stand against financial crisis rules

A group of European insurers has said hasty regulatory reactions to the financial crisis would adversely affect insurers caught up in the current financial crisis. In a paper outlining an insurance view of the financial crisis, the Pan European Insurance Forum (PEIF) said it was important that policymakers understand the differences between the risks of banks from those of insurers, particularly when drafting new rules for financial regulation.
