WUHAN AUTHORITIES TO PILOT WILDFOWL COVER

REPORTS suggest the Chinese city of Wuhan in the Hubei Province is looking to introduce a system to subsidise insurance for waterfowl. The products will offer insurance cover to farmers for what they describe as reproductive and commodity ducks. According to Sinocast, the premium is Yuan0.6 for a reproductive duck and Yuan0.06 for a commodity duck. The farmers will pay 40% of the premium with the local authorities contributing 30% of the premium for the farmers. If any of the insured birds are killed by natural disasters, accidents or diseases the farmer receives a Yuan10 indemnity.
