FURTHER DIP IN JAPANESE NON-LIFE PREMIUM REVENUE
PREMIUM revenue for Japan’s six largest non-life insurers fell in the first half of the fiscal year for the second year running
new figures show. Combined premium revenue for the six totalled Yen3.13trn for the six months to the end of September, down
3.9% according to a report in Nikkei. In April compulsory motor liability insurance rates dropped an average of 24%, but the
combined figure was still down even excluding that one-off fall, the Nikkei report said. Only Nissay Dowa General Insurance
Co saw an increase in premium revenue – although only by 0.2%.
