PREMIUM LEAPS AT INDONESIA RISK CARRIER
First-half premium income at Indonesian life insurer PT Asuransi Jiwa Manulife totalled Rp666bn (US$73m) representing a 148%
year-on-year increase. According to company president David Beynon this was the result of strong bancassurance growth through
co-operation with banks, as well as success in the sales of individual insurance through agents. He told Indonesian newspaper
Bisnis Indonesia the company's investment was dominated by bonds which accounted for 60% of the portfolio with investment
in stock markets accounting for 18%.
