CIRC PUBLISHES CHINESE INTERMEDIARY REPORT

China is home to 2,381 professional insurance intermediary companies, according to figures from the regulator. A report published by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission revealed there are 1,781 insurance agencies, 333 insurance brokerages and 267 insurance claims adjusters operating in China. And it claimed the written premiums generated in the first half of the year through independent insurance intermediaries totalled Yuan1.68bn, representing an increase of 39.58% over the same period of last year and accounting for 3.86% of the total written premiums generated. Nasdaq-listed CNinsure has said the report revealed 12 of its affiliated insurance intermediary companies, including eight insurance agencies, one insurance brokerage and three insurance claims adjusters, were among China's top 20 in their respective categories.
