DAMAGED HELICOPTER PROMPTS $13.88M EARTHQUAKE CLAIM

A damaged Super Puma helicopter resulted in the largest insurance claim so far related to the May earthquake in China’s Sichuan province. Reports from China suggest Ping An Property and Casualty Insurance paid S13.88m to CITIC Offshore Helicopter to settle the claim. One person was injured when the helicopter was damaged when the helicopter was forced to land after apparently suffering mechanical failure while rescuing rare animals towards the beginning of last month. International reinsurance companies helped expedite the claim.
