Dias Compania Naviera SA v MV “Al Kaziemah” - Durban and Coast Local Division (Bristowe J) - 1994 (1) SA 550

Jurisdiction in rem - Whether plaintiffs’ claim fell within section 3(4) of Admiralty Jurisdiction Act

The vessel Al Kaziemah was arrested by the plaintiffs at the Port of Durban. The basis of the arrest was that the plaintiffs asserted that they were the owners of the vessel and the defendants were wrongfully denying them possession to which they were entitled by virtue of their ownership.
