Fidelis ‘reviewing options’ following aviation ‘mega-trial’ judgment
Fidelis Insurance Group is reviewing options including an appeal after the High Court ruled war risks insurers would be liable
for planes trapped in Russia after its invasion of Ukraine. Bermuda-based Fidelis said it “respectfully disagrees” with the
court’s ruling, adding it would be
“reviewing all options including a possible appeal”. Fidelis was one of a number of war risks insurers involved in the 12-week “mega-trial”, including HDI Global Specialty and
Tokio Marine Kiln, alongside insurers that provided all-risks cover to the stranded planes, such as AIG and Chubb.
